  • North Cascades National Park is the least developed and wildest National Park in the lower 48 states. The park offers exceptional back country hiking as well as delightful drive in campgrounds along the North Cascades Highway which traverses the park.
  • Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest covers the west slope of the Cascade Mountains from the Canadian border south into Snohomish County near Seattle offering snow capped volcanic peaks, crystal clear alpine lakes and hundreds of camping, day hiking and back country opportunities.
  • North Cascades Institute offers an impressive array of classes, workshops and seminars. Through education The NCS inspires close relationships with nature through direct experiences in the natural world.
  • The North Cascades Highway - Completed in 1972 the North Cascades Highway was the last major US highway construction project that crossed a high mountain pass. The scenery is incredible, not to be missed.
  • Winthrop & The Methow Valley - After crossing the North Cascades Highway from the west side you drop down into the magnificent Methow Valley.
  • Oknagon National Forest - The climate is arid here and the rivers run fast and clear through ponderosa pine forests. The Pasayten Wilderness offers exceptional high altitude back country hiking in one of the remotest alpine regions in the lower 48 states.
  • Sierra Club Cascades Chapter is one of the most active and influential chapters in the Sierra Club system. The club offers hikes and other club sponsored group activities.
